Señor de Esquipulas
Our Brotherhood was founded October 22, 1985, the first director was elect; Anselma Amanda De Leo'n-Presidenta Vice-president (Clear Red), Oscar Gonzalez (Secretary), Patricia Pirir (Treasurer), Red Angel (First Vowel), Verta Morale (Second Vowel), Laura Garcia (Third Vowel). This was the first director who worked with a lot entusiam and energy to be able to have our Black Christ Señor De Esquipulas. Father of Guatemala hubicado in the Department of Chiquimula, Guatemala.
Señor de Esquipulas was brought from Guatemala January 12,1986 and was donated to the church of our community "the Sacred Heart" Of Washington, DC. It was received by Esteban Father Carter ofm CAP whose idea was to have the a religious representing Guatemala in the church. They provided a space in the sanctuary of the temple, where all can visit in Washington DC. Every year there is a celebration the 15 of January to honor el Señor De Esquipulas. This also takes place in Chiquimula, Guatemala.
For this project many Guatemalan people, and Hispano-Americans worked together. The director of Señor de Esquipulas participated in several activities. During that period funds were collected that helped to create an imagé of the Black Christ to Guatemala. The one in charge was Mr. Angel Rojas, he was an important part to make this project a reality. Thanks to many people now we have Señor de Esquipulas in Washington, DC.
We also thank Father Esteban Carter of who supported our goal of having el Señor de Esquipulas in the church of the Sacred Heart in the Metropolitan area of Washington, DC.
In the period of the director Mrs. President Amanda Of Leon and her director participage in many activities where they showed much enthusiasm of being able to serve God. Serving to him and our neighbors and bringing this great saint for all chapines and Central America. The Brotherhood Of El Señor De Esquipulas became a brotherhood according to the statutes of the Law of the District of Columbia, to be one organization without profit aims. This happened June 17, 1991.
In 1992 the first recollection of funds by the brotherhood and Borinquen Radio took place to benefit "the House Home" Association de niño a niño "ANINI". The General Manager Edgar Arce Abdo sent letter of gratefulness to the brotherhood by the support to the "House Home". Another Institution was Home of Old "Luisa de Marillac" Jesus Of the Good Hope Quetzaltenango, Santiago Atitlán, Solola Home Pro-Niños Huerfanos; and many more. The companies in the later part are of the first Director of the Brotherhood Of Mr. De Esquipulas in the letter of gratefulness from the Church and of Esteban Father Carter.
